This ornament was tied to a present on my first Christmas. (I won't tell you how old that makes it!) My Mom passed it along to me when I moved into my first apartment. It's been the first one to grace the tree every year since then.
These two were made by my Grammy. When I was little, her whole tree was covered with beautiful ornaments she made herself - snowmen and Santas, beaded ornaments, crocheted snowflakes. She passed away three years ago and the cousins divided up all the ornaments so we'd each have a few that she made.
Snoopy was a gift from my Dad when I was 9. He loved watching the Peanuts specials with us; Woodstock was his favorite. This is our third Christms without Dad. I'm not sure it's getting easier yet, but the ornament always makes me smile.
And full circle from my first ornament to the ones that commemorate the year the Little Guy was born. The teddy is a "Baby's 1st Christmas" ornament; the angel was a gift from a friend.
How about you? Tell me about your favorite ornament in the comments. I'll pick one commenter at random on December 15. The winner will receive a Luscious Lips Gift Set from my shop. Let's hear those stories!
UPDATE: And the winner (chosen by highly scientific random drawing) is... Vintage aka Vinty. Congratulations!
My favorite ornament would be the one that my grandmother and I made together a few years back. I had came up with the idea and of course she agreed. :)
ReplyDeleteWe went and bought the supplies together; a small, round glass container, fake moss....
Her and I worked on the ornament together for a few hours and in the end we made a cute, one of a kind ornament; a terrarium ornament with Santa Claus and Rudolph in a mossy field.
That ornament added life to the house since it was the only green we were able to see with all the snow around. Plus, my grandmother and I kept getting the compliments :)
We felt proud and happy about our ornament and it felt good to work on it together.
You have really great ornaments!! Love the snowman :). Every year I buy a couple of new ones, and usually get one or two as gifts. Might have to get a bigger tree soon.
ReplyDeletemy favorite ornament is a pathetic little wooden snowman that says "from your friend gina a. 1987" on the bottom.
ReplyDeleteit's the only ornament i have from my youth.

My favorite ornament was a christmas ball that opened up to reveal a baby jesus inside! It was so special to me. My mother gave it to me and when she died I buried it with her, It meant the world to me and I will never forget that ornament every Christmas!
ReplyDeletemy favorite ornament was a gold colored reindeer that my sister maria had engraved for me. i loved that it had MY name on it, spelled exactly the way i spell it:)
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a tough one. I have many favorites, but I have a plastic Santa from my childhood (50 years+) that has a place in the back to stick it over a Christmas bulb. I always stop and talk to him when hanging him on the tree.
